The Dance Team’s 1st practice/meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 13th from 6:30-830 p.m. Parents do NOT need to attend. Remember to wear sweats and bring a water. Also – bring $2 in order to have insurance to practice.

All boys basketball players in grades 9-12:  There will be a short meeting on Wednesday morning at 8:00 am in Mr. Johnson’s room.  Please be there.

There will be a bus going down to the dome for the state football tournament this Friday if there is enough interest. The bus will leave LP at 7:50. Those 9-12 FB players interested should sign up in the office. The cost will be $4 for the bus plus ticket price. Sign up asap so we can get a feel for the number interested.

Learn more about a career in Law Enforcement! The McLeod County Sheriff’s Office Explorers Program is open to youth 14 (finished 8th grade) to 18 years old. You’re invited to attend the FirstNighter informational meeting on Sunday, November 18, 7-8 pm at the McLeod County Solid Waste Bldg. at 1065 5th Ave. SE in Hutchinson, MN 55350. The National Honor Society will be collecting Toys for Mary’s Place beginning November 26th and we will be collecting until December 14th. Our school-wide goal is to collect at least 250 toys. If we reach our goal of 250, each grade will be rewarded with a movie party before the Christmas break. The toys must be new/unused and for all age groups. Please support the cause and start collecting!

The National Honor Society will be selling candy canes on December 10th through December 14th. Candy Canes can be purchased during lunch hours and will cost $1.00 each.

We have a Mr. Coffee Coffeemaker in the kitchen from the concert Monday night and also, from the last Carb Feed 2 cream colored dish towels.

Conferences will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 13 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Kindergarten through grade 5 have assigned times to meet with their teachers (if you did not receive your assigned time please call the office at 320-395-2521). High School teachers will be in their classrooms on Nov. 13 for conferences. No times are assigned for students in grades 6-12. We hope to see you at conferences!

There will be a public flu clinic during conferences on Nov. 13. The clinic will be held from 5 to 7 p.m.

Elementary report cards were sent home with students on Wed., Nov. 7. High School Report Cards may be picked up at conferences on Nov. 13.

Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Reach for the Stars Fundraiser!!! Everyone is invited to attend the Usborne Bookfair during conferences on Tuesday, November 13th from 4-8 p.m. in the school library. Students who earned free books through the reading fundraiser can redeem them at the bookfair. An announcement on the total reading time and class winners will be made soon!

Homework Help has started again! Homework Help is open to anyone in grades K-12.  It will take place from 3-4 p.m. on Monday-Thursday.  We will try to have a teacher and at least one para there each night.  Students must stay from 3-4 p.m. if they are signed up or if they sign up on their own so the staff can focus on helping and not checking students in or out. Homework help will take place in the media center.

There will be a free lunch at Bethel Church on Wednesday, Nov. 14 for Junior and Senior High Students.

The boys basketball team is looking for someone to be a student manager or take stats. If anyone is interested, please talk to Mr. Machemehl or Mr. Johnson.

Bulldog Football Banquet for all JV and Varsity Players, Cheerleaders and Student Managers will be held on Monday, November 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the LP school gym.  Notes have been sent home to the players/parents.   Let’s celebrate a great season!  The boys ended the season with an 8-2 record and were the Gopher Valley Conference Champs!

Trap team members:  Please turn in any sold raffle tickets and money to Mr. Bjork as you get them sold.  That way we don’t have tickets and money floating around.  The goal is to have all the tickets sold by 12/20/12.  I have requested another 100 tickets.

Band Parents: Due to my part-time status, I will only be available for conferences on Tuesday November 13th from 3:30-8pm. A note was sent home with students. Parents of Spanish Class Student: Due to her part-time status, Mrs. Nali was only available for conferences on Thursday, Nov. 8.

Class dues are due immediately.  Quarter grades will be withheld, students will not be allowed to participate in extra-curricular activities until these dues are paid.  Students who have not paid dues will not be allowed participation in any activities where a fee is involved, including events.  Thank you for your participation in this and getting your dues paid, and a special thank you to those who have paid already. -Mr. Schmidt

Picture retakes will be on Wednesday, November 14th. They will start taking pictures as soon as classes begin. If you didn’t have your picture taken earlier this year or if you were unhappy with your first picture, please have your picture taken on retake day. We have order forms available for you in the office.

Beginning Nov. 15 there will be a collection box at school for used indoor and outdoor Christmas lights. You may also include power cords that you no longer use or need. We will continue collecting lights through the end of January.

Junior Ambassador For a Day: We are now taking nominations and applications for girls in 5-8th grade. The forms are in the office. You may apply yourself and/or you can be nominated. Tell us about you and why you should be chosen. We are looking for a young lady with self respect and who shows respect for others, believes in a good education, reaches out to others and tries to make a difference in our community. We will be accepting applications until the end of December. You must attend LP public school or be home- schooled in the LP district.

The 7-8-9 grades PE ski trip is Tuesday, Jan. 15. Forms and payment are due on Nov. 16.

Any student needing classroom Driver’s Education should pick up a registration form from Mr. Bjork.  Students must be 14 1/2 years of age by November 26, 2012 in order to take the class.  More detailed information is available on the registration form.
