Congratulations to Jenna Heimerl, Lester Prairie High School’s ExCEL Award winner! The ExCEL Award is the Minnesota State High School League’s top award for Juniors and recognizes students for their leadership in the school and commitment to community volunteerism.
Congratulations to Paige Heimerl and Zach Jackson, Lester Prairie High School’s Triple A Award winners! The Triple A Award is the Minnesota State High School League’s top award for Seniors and recognizes students for their leadership in the school and commitment to participation and leadership in the Arts, Athletics, and Academics. Zach also won the Triple A Award for Subsection 17 and advanced to the Region level. Congratulations to Paige and Zach!
There is an informational meeting for any 8th-11th grade students who are interested in participating in FFA through the GSL chapter on Wednesday, February 10th at 8:50 in the cafeteria. Participation starts during the summer of 2020.
Session 1 of Classroom Driver Education is scheduled for March 15-25. The class will meet 3:00-6:00 PM each weekday and 9:00 AM-12:00 PM on Saturday March 20. Attendance at every class is mandatory. Space is limited and classes are filled on a first come first serve basis with a completed registration form and paid fee. You must be 14 years of age on or before the first class date. Cost is $120. Session 2 will be scheduled for sometime in June. Contact Bill Neubarth if you have any questions (firstname.lastname@example.org). Registration forms are available in the school office and on the Community Ed page on the school website. Registrations for Session 1 are due by Friday, February 19.
Juniors, the fudge sale started. This year all ordering must be done online. Mr. Thode has posted the information to the Class of 2022 Google Classroom.

The 2nd Annual Read-A-Thon will run from February 16-28, 2021 for the elementary students. Turn in your money packet on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Turn in your reading tracker by Monday, March 1. Prizes will be announced on Friday, Feb. 5. Dress up days will be:
Wednesday, Feb. 17 – Wild Wednesday – Wear animal print/clothes with animals
Friday, Feb. 19 – Flashlight Friday – Wear your pajamas
Wednesday, Feb. 24 – Wacky Wednesday – Wear something crazy, wacky hair, etc.
Friday, Feb. 26 – Fan Friday – Wear your favorite college/school or sports team gear
The Prairie Arts Council has generously offered to cover a large part of the cost for the Art Kits, Classes, and Camps offered through Community Ed this Spring and Summer. These offerings are available to students PreK-6th grade. Art Kits can now be purchased for $5, Art Classes are reduced to $10, and Art Camps are reduced to $22. Students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch can order Art Kits and participate in Classes and Camps at no cost. Descriptions for each offering are available in the Community Ed brochure. All students will be dismissed every Friday at 11:40 until further notice due to the Executive Order by the Governor.
Conferences will be held TODAY, Monday, Feb. 8, and Thursday, Feb. 11 from 3:30-7:30 p.m. You may attend in-person or you may have a virtual conference. 7-12 grade students must email to teacher to set one up.
Due to her part-time status at LP, Mrs. Wood will only be available for conferences TODAY, February 8. If you need to arrange a separate time to see her, please email her.

Activities and Sports:
The Lip Sync Contest will be Thursday, March 4.
Signup sheets are in the office.
They must be turned in by Wednesday, February 24.

Are you interested in coding or robotics? A Spring and a Summer session are available to students 5th grade and up. In each session, you will build your coding skills using real robots. Contact Mr. Teut if you have any questions.
Mon 2/8 – V/JV/C Boys Basketball players are dismissed at 2:00 for their games at Legacy Christian Academy. The bus will leave from the elementary side at 2:15. Players should be dressed for the game before leaving.
Mon 2/8 – JH Girls Basketball players are dismissed at 2:45 for their game at LeSueur-Henderson. The bus will leave at 3:00 from the elementary side. Players must be dressed for the game before leaving.
Tue 2/9 – The bus for 8th Grade Boys Basketball at Spectrum will leave from the elementary side at 5:00. Players must be dressed for the game before leaving. The 7th Grade Boys Basketball team will have practice 3:20-4:50.
Tue 2/9 – V/JV Girls Basketball players are dismissed at 2:50 for their games at North Lakes Academy. The bus will leave from the elementary side at 3:05. Players should be dressed for the game before leaving.
Thu 2/11 – JH Girls Basketball players are dismissed at 2:15 for their game at Spectrum. The bus will leave from the elementary side at 2:30. Players must be dressed for the game before leaving.
Fri 2/12 – JH Boys Basketball will depart from the elementary side at 3:20 for their games at Sibley East in Gaylord. Players must be dressed for the game before leaving.
