Lester Prairie man arrested and charged with assault

A Lester Prairie man was arrested and has been charged with assault after an incident involving his sister and a police officer early Sunday morning.

According to the complaint, at about 1:15 a.m., Officer Emilie Berry was dispatched to a residence on Lincoln Avenue in Lester Prairie on the report of a disturbance.

On arrival, Berry observed a female waiting at the door of the apartment. As Berry was speaking with her, the brother, later identified as 29-year-old Fabian Osbel Serna, exited the apartment screaming profanities. Berry instructed Serna to stop but he refused and started screaming at Berry while advancing towards her, despite Berry’s commands to stop. Serna continued to yell and pushed Berry into a corner of the entryway. Berry placed her right hand on Serna’s chest to stop his advancement on her, but Serna pushed her out of the way, at which time Berry exited the apartment building, but Serna continued to yell and advance on her.

Upon the arrival of additional officers, Serna was taken into custody.

Berry was not injured.

The woman said Serna is her brother and resides at the apartment with her and came home intoxicated, screamed at her, threw items around, broke property and she was in fear because of his conduct.

Serna has been charged with one count of 4th Degree Assault of a Peace Officer (Gross Misdemeanor) and one count of Misdemeanor Domestic Assault.
