Congratulations to the Bulldog Volleyball Team as they advance to the semi-finals of the Section 2A

Tournament. The Bulldogs beat CM/C 3-1 last night and will now take on LeCenter Monday night at 7 pm in LP.

Section Cross Country results from yesterday: Boys Team ran very well – finishing 18th out of 23 teams. Kaleb

Buesing led the boys finishing 32nd. Miranda Buesing was the top girl finisher.

The Bulldog Football Team beat BBE Tuesday night 14-10. They now advance to the second round to play St.

Bernard’s on Saturday night. The game will be played at Hamline University at 7 pm. There will be a

pepfest/send off for the football team on Sat., Oct. 31st at 3:00 at LPHS. Everyone is welcome to come and

cheer as we send our Bulldogs off to a VICTORY!!!

10th and 9th grade students: There is a change to the lunch policy, but it is not an open lunch. The policy has to

be changed administratively first. Failure to follow the closed lunch will be considered skipping.

Attention: There will be a winter sports meeting for athletes and parents on Tuesday, November 3 at 7 pm in

the gym.

Thank you to everyone who submitted boxtops for education, the school will get a check for $578.50 thanks to

you! The top collector with 1,376 tops, was Andrew Gebhardt’s Family (enjoy your $20 movie theatre

certificate). Please continue to clip and save box tops (see BTFE.com for more information). The next contest

is for students in grades K-12 to win their favorite teacher a $25 gift certificate to a Spa/Salon. Submit box tops

(check expiration dates) with the teacher’s name on the package (baggie, envelope etc.), and turn them in at the

recycling bin located by the old elementary office. The teacher who gets the most box tops submitted for them

will win the gift certificate. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009.

Homework Help: Starting November 2, students in grades 7-12 who are failing classes will have the

opportunity to work after school in the following rooms from 3-4 pm.

The Reach for the Stars Reading Fundraiser will be ending on Wednesday, October 28th. All forms are due to

school today. Students are encouraged to read at least 300 minutes and ask family and friends to support their

reading by making a pledge. Students will receive books of their choice with 50% of the money collected. The

remaining 50% goes to Lester Prairie School in new books and cash!! This is a great way to earn books for

yourself and the school. You can also help the school by visiting the online bookfair at

holiday shopping done AND help the school!

Friday, November 6th is the end of the first quarter. Students will be released at 11:30 that day and elementary

students will eat lunch at school but high school students will not.

Students in grades 6-8 that are participating in the patriotic essay should have their typed essay turned in to the

office by today. Students in grades 9-12 who are participating in the Voice of Democracy should turn in their

typed essay and recorded tape by today.

The Minnesota Vikings are offering tickets at a discounted price for the November 15th game against the Detroit

Lions. If you are interested in getting the information, see Mr. Johnson. This offer is open to all staff and

parents.

REMINDER: L.P. School has had confirmed cases of the H1N1 flu as well as the regular influenza. Please

make sure to practice good precautions against the flu. These include covering your cough, washing your hands

and staying home if you have a temperature of 100 or more, cough, sore throat or are throwing up. If you

experience any of these symptoms, please report them to the office. If you are ill, please stay home until you

are off fever-reducing meds for 24 hours and during this time have not had a fever.

There will be a Halloween Party and Movie on Sunday, November 1 in the LP High School Gym beginning at

12:00. There will be an elementary carnival from 12:00-2:00 with over 10 games to play and tickets are 25¢

each. There will be a costume contest at 2:00 and a dance at 2:45. The movie “The Haunted Mansion” will be

shown at 4:00 (Bring something comfy to sit on . . . no chairs) for any age students. There will also be a

hayride (weather permitting) pumpkin painting and concessions. This fundraiser is sponsored by the Lester

Prairie Youth Softball/Baseball Association. There will be a free will donation.

Students in Grades 5-8 are invited to participate in some ghoulish games, freaky fun, costume contest with

prizes, movies and frightening food! This event will be held on Friday, October 30 from 7:00-10:00 pm.

Parents – feel free to let the school know if you would like to chaperone this event. The cost is $2.00 OR 2

food shelf items OR a gently used winter coat OR new hat and mittens to be donated to McLeod County Social

Services.

Have a safe Halloween and remember to set your clocks back one hour this weekend!
