Do you know what blood cancer is? It is a
disease that occurs in the blood. Our blood is
made up of three types of cells: red blood cells,
white blood cells and platelets. Blood cancer
crowds out the healthy blood cells so they can’t do their jobs.
Do you know what the treatments for cancer are called? Tune in tomorrow for the answer, and keep those donations coming!

• Jr. High Play: Students in grades 7-9, auditions Wednesday, 28 at 3 p.m. in Room 147. I need nine (9) girls and two (2) boys, plus a stage crew. If we do not get enough actors and actresses, there will not be a Jr. High Play this year.

• 7th and 12th grade candidate speeches are due at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2009.

• Sno Fest Dance – starts at 9 p.m.-not 9:30 p.m.

• Sno Fest permission forms were handed out Friday. If you did not receive one, extra forms are available in the high school office. Please return by Friday, Jan. 30 with payment.

• Any parents who want to chaperone any of the activities other than to the Mall of America, please contact the school at 320-395-2521.

• Sno Fest Dance – Needed chaperones for the Sno Fest dance on Friday, Feb. 6 from 9 p.m. to midnight. If interested, call Mr. Fitzsimonds at the school.

• Sno Fest Dance – Anyone planning to bring a guest from out of the District (not attending Lester Prairie High School) must sign up in the office by Monday, Feb. 2.

• Sno Fest – There is a song request sheet in the high school office for the Sno Fest dance. This sheet will be given to the DJ ahead of time so our dance will be funky fresh-so sign up some songs!
2009 Bulldog Bash
The Lester Prairie Foundation for Education, Inc., would like to announce that the date for this year’s BULLDOG BASH is Saturday, March 28, 2009. Mark your calendars! Tickets will be available the first week of February in both the school offices and from any Education Foundation board member. If you have any questions regarding the Bash or wish to purchase tickets, please call Sheila Jilek at 395-2186.
Also, we are now accepting donations of auction items (anything from handmade items, woodworking pieces, sports items or tickets, themed gift baskets, etc.) We ask that all items be in before March 1 so that we can get the auction booklet printed. If you have an item to donate, please contact Sheila Jilek at 395-2186, Karla Heigl at 395-9844, Kelli Machemehl at 395-2844 or Rollie Radtke at 395-2913. Remember, purchasing a ticket and attending is also a donation. The generous people that we have in our school and community has really made the success of this event build each year.

• Lester Prairie School Parent Directory: Do you ever need to contact another parent, but don’t know their phone number? Need to call a parent about last minute car-pooling or have a question about a homework assignment? Need to contact a parent, but only know the child’s name and grade? The answer could be the LP School Parent Directory.

The Lester Prairie School Parent Directory is updated every other month and published through email to a distribution list of parents. If you do not have access to email, arrangements for a paper copy can be provided. Currently, there are almost 50 families listed in the directory with more being added with each edition. If you are interested in participating, pick up a form in the high school/elementary office for more information. All changes received by Jan. 30 will be included in the Feb. edition. Changes after that date will be included in the April edition.

• The NHS is doing a seatbelt survey. You can pick up a sheet in the high school office. You’ll want to fill it out and hand it back in to the office by Friday, Jan. 30; because we are randomly picking surveys, and the winners receive a prize!

• Joe Cavanaugh, Founder & CEO of Youth Frontiers, will speak on the Importance of Character on January 28 from 6:30-8:00p.m. in the Holy Trinity Gym.

• Next Free Lunch – February 11 at Bethel Church.

• *FINANCIAL AID NIGHT – Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at *7:00 p.m. in the LP Media Center. Parents and Students are welcome to attend!

• Spring Drivers’ Ed Class will start March 2 and run through March 13, 2009 for a two-week period (Mon.-Fri., 3:05 – 6:05). Students must be 15 years of age by March 2, 2009. Fees: $90 for District resident or current open enrolled student; $125 for Out of District students. Forms are available in the high school office. Deadline to register is Feb. 13, 2009.
