LDC girls hockey team’s season ends at New Ulm

NEW ULM – The Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato girls hockey team had their season come to an end Friday in the first round of the Section 2A playoffs.

The Dragons (8-16-2), seeded #5, fell to 4th-seeded New Ulm on the road by a score of 3-0.

The Eagles (17-8-1) dominated play in all three periods, outshooting LDC by a 4-1 margin, 44-11.

Madeline Gag scored in the first period for New Ulm, and Molly Scheid and Ally Steffensmeier added second-period goals for the Eagles.

LDC goaltender Avery Stilwell had a solid game in net, stopping 41-of-44 shots (.932 save percentage), but just one goal was enough for the Eagles on this night.

While the loss was unfortunate, the Dragons took a big step up from last season, when they finished with just two wins.
