Laker volleyball drops a pair

The Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Lakers’ volleyball team dropped a pair of matches this past week at home.
The Lakers fell to Annandale in three games Sept. 8, then were topped by Holdingford in four games Thursday.
HLWW headed into the Delano Invite Saturday with a 0-2 Central Minnesota Conference record, and were 4-5 overall.

This week, the Lakers will host Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity tonight (Monday), then travels to Eden Valley-Watkins Thursday, Sept. 18.

Annandale 3, HLWW 0
Hosting Annandale Sept. 8, the Lakers fell in straight games 3-0.
The opening game of the night was a quick one, as Annandale ran away with a 25-18 win.
In game two, the Lakers fired back, playing the Cardinals near even the entire game, and coming with-in one point several times.
However, in the end it was Annandale that came away with a 25-23 win. “I really thought we had that game,” head coach Christin LaMott said.
The Cardinals then finished off HLWW with a 25-18 game three win.
