Kernels drop first two games

The Cokato Kernels dropped their first two games of the season, losing 10-0 at Maple Lake Friday, and 6-1 at Delano Sunday.

The Kernels managed just one hit in a 7-inning loss at Maple Lake, with Isaac Nelson providing the lone hit for Cokato.

The game was closed out by 56-year-old pitcher Larry Niemela, making his first townball appearance in nearly 20 years. Check out Friday’s Enterprise Dispatch for the full story.

Against Delano, Steve Schmitt threw a great game through seven innings, giving up just two runs, but it was not enough as the A’s scored four runs in the eighth.
