Kacie Carlsted’s drama friends take the stage without her

Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted drama club, has joined together with the Dassel-Cokato drama club for a benefit to help those affected by the car accident that took the life of Howard-Lake Waverly-Winsted senior Madey Kleve and left Kacie Carlsted, Mitch Bayerl and Brie Barfknecht injured. A silent auction and dinner will be held on Saturday August 1 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the play “The Snake In The Grass” (a melodrama written by Tim Kelly) to follow at 8:00 p.m. The play’s second performance will be held on Saturday, August 2 at 7:30 p.m.

“I just can’t wait for the day when Kacie can be up on stage with us again”, Amanda Imberg, one of the cast members said. Because the accident had such an affect on so many people, there were quite a few actors who wanted to be involved with the benefit. It helps that there is such a strong and supportive group of people who are trying to make a difference, said Imberg.

“The play itself is a wonderful melodrama that WILL get the audience involved,” cast member Nick Collins said. “It is …well, fun.  I urge anyone who can to try and make it to the shows.”

“It is also really cool that Madey’s sister McCall has joined the cast for the play, cast member Sara Butterfass said.  “It’s a shame that the accident happened at all, but that it happened to such great people makes it that much worse. We invite everyone from the community to come to the benefit, and tell their friends. Help make Neighbors Helping Neighbors a huge success!”

Suggested donations are $10 for the meal, $5 for a kids’ hot dog meal, and $10 for the show. Matching funds will be applied for through Wright County Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. For more donation information, call St. John’s Lutheran Church at (320) 543-2227.
