Juvenile male shot dead in Chanhassen

In a statement released by Carver County Sheriff Jason Kamerud’s office at 2:43 a.m. Thursday, Feb 2 it received a report of a juvenile male at Fairview Southdale Hospital, Edina, who had
suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
Deputies learned that Eden Prairie Police Department had been in a vehicle pursuit that ended at
Fairview Southdale Hospital. Law enforcement discovered the 17-year-old victim inside the
vehicle. Preliminary information indicated the victim suffered the gunshot wound on the 700
block of Conestoga Trail, Chanhassen, and had been driven to the hospital by friends. The
victim’s identity is being withheld until the next of kin has been notified.
The statement said, the suspect, an 18-year-old female acquaintance of the victim, is in custody. Both are from cities in the East Metro area.
This matter remains under investigation by the Carver County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction
with the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office. The MN Bureau Criminal Apprehension,
Eden Prairie Police Department, and Chaska Police Department aided in this case. The results of
the investigation will be routed to the Carver County Attorney’s Office for prosecutorial review.
