Johnson scores 5 TDs, defense dominates in 56-7 Homecoming win

COKATO – Blake Johnson scored five touchdowns, and the Charger defense dominated the Glencoe-Silver Lake offense in a 56-7 Homecoming win Friday.

Johnson scored on runs of 5, 2, 9, 3, and 2 yards, upping his total to a whopping 21 rushing touchdowns for the season. Quarterback Paul Raisanen connected with wide receiver Sanders Asplin twice for 25-yard touchdowns, and Caleb Keith added a 90-yard kickoff return for the final Charger score.

The defense, meanwhile, did not give up a first down until there was eight minutes left in the game. The Panthers had 20 yards on 20 plays in the first half as DC took a 35-0 lead at halftime.

It was the second time in the last 20 years that DC defeated GSL.

The Chargers clinched the East Central/South Division title with the victory, improving to 6-0 overall (5-0 in district play).
