Is TV on the way out?

I never thought I would write that headline, but when I look around at my friends my own age in the Dassel-Cokato area, I have been noticing that most of us don’t have TVs. It isn’t that my husband and I don’t enjoy a show or two, but we don’t watch it on TV, and I can’t imagine why I would buy one.  We watch our shows on the internet . . . mostly on Hulu.com.

For me and most of my friends, we don’t have time to sit through several hours of TV everyday, and if we want to watch something, we aren’t going to sit through the 15 minutes of commercials that every show seems to have.  On Hulu, I believe there is a total of about 3-4 minutes of commercials per show–pretty painless.

So I wonder if TV is on the way out, or if in the end we’ll end up carrying home our own big box of plastic for our living rooms.
