Howard Lake Library to offer program Dec. 31

HOWARD LAKE, MN — The Howard Lake Public Library is celebrating winter with a special
program called “The Magic of Winter in Poetry and Song” Thursday, Dec.
31, 3 to 4 p.m.
Families and individuals of all ages are invited to hear local performers Marienne Kreitlow and Jerry Ford weave together original and traditional music of the season with selected works of poets such as
Robert Frost, Ogden Nash and Mary Oliver.
The couple sing harmony and play numerous instruments including guitar, flute, Irish whistle and percussion. Kreitlow is a folk music veteran who has produced nine albums of original music, and is a playwright, composer and poet. Ford works with the Great River Educational Arts Theatre in St. Cloud and is also a passionate farmer. (Together, they are the founders of the Minnesota Garlic Festival.) The attendance limit is 35.

Students performing in the 34th annual recital this year are: Seth
Bravinder, Anna Neighbors, Clarissa Estera, and Oliver Nyquist, all of
Cokato; Samuel and Bethany Rydberg, both of Dassel; and Steven and Wesly
Froehle, Theo Ochu, and Joshua Stroeing, all of St. Cloud.
The works of Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Brahms, and Liszt will be featured,
along with familiar popular music. Ochu will perform Brahms and Liszt.
The public is encouraged to attend. A reception will follow the concert.
