My sincerest sympathies to all involved and touched by this tragedy. The students of HLWW have impressed me each time I've covered an event for the newspaper. They've made me laugh at the different coronations with their skits, and have shown that they have a bright future. May God bless all of you.

To Dan Kleve and Family
Our hearts go out to you at this difficult time. There is no greater sadness then the loss of a child as I know from losing my son Ken. May you find strength from friends and family to make it through each day. May God hold you in his hands and comfort you when you need it. You are in my prayers. Becky, Bud and Family

Julie and family,
When I read the news report and recognized the Kleve name, I was hoping it wasn't anyone I knew, but today found out it was the same Julie I knew at LB. I'm so sorry for you and your family. I lost a cousin in his senior year of high school from a motorcycle accident. You must go on for the sake of your other children, even though you'll never forget or totally recover from this sadness. Know that I'm thinking of you.

I want to address this to the girl that was driving the vehicle. I know she is suffering very much and wishes she could turn the clock back to before the accident. However take comfort in that God used you as tool in this accident. Sometimes our time to go is not only when we get old, but as a young person. There is nothing we can do when it is ones time to go, God has that in his hands to which no matter what, madie time was to go for some reason that we cannot fathom. My heart goes out to all involved and do hope all will be okay. Sincerely Margaret

As I read all of the postings I can see and feel the extent of the impact of this tragedy extends much farther than the limits of our little community. The past days have been emotional to say the least. The support that all of the families have received has been amazing, I can not begin to express my appreciation and thanks. I would like to personally thank each and every one of you. As our families are in your prayers, your families are in ours, the emotional pain extends a lot farther than only to the young adults involved in the accident and their families. This will be a long road to recovery and I am confident that we will all get through. If I have learned one thing from this tragedy is that this community and all of the people who have reached out from other schools, churches, cities and states is that we are not alone in this. I have learned a lot from the HLWW kids, they are strong and united and will see each other through the tough times ahead.

I would like to make a special note to a blog that I read from Heather Kaskinen

Heather,
I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am Brie Barfknecht’s step mother. To be honest, we have been avoiding as much news and media coverage as possible over the past days. This tragedy has impacted us all and it has taken me until today to start to explore the accuracy and detail of the media’s account of the accident as well as any scrutiny of any details surrounding the moment that changed our lives and the lives of everyone it has touched forever. As I conducted my search, I stumbled across your addition to the blog on the Herald Journal; I was touched by your words as you recalled your description of the series of events that occurred that fateful evening. I know that you being at that intersection changed your life as well, but I am thankful for your presence. Your quick response, common sense and training may very well be the reason that three of those kids made it out of that iron mess. Although I do not know you, your mother or your family friend, you are all in my prayers. In today’s society more often than not people choose not to get involved, it is people like you that keep the faith that not all good intentions and kindness are lost. Our grief for the loss of Dan and Julie weigh heavy on our hearts with each and every beat, but thanks to you and the actions of all of the individuals that responded to the collision, Brie, Kacie and Mitch; who are all bright, gifted and talented young adults with bright futures will have the ability to shape their own futures and spend the rest of their lives to continue to make contributions that would make Madey proud. We can not protect our children every minute of every day, but what gives me solace is that people like you exist and act as guardians when we need to let them spread their wings in their journeys to be their own people. Again, myself as well as Brie’s whole family would like to thank you as well as everyone who responded and contributed their efforts putting their selves in harms way to help others. I will forever be grateful.

Sincerely,

Jill Barfknecht

to the Kleve's our sincere prayers and heartfelt sympathy. Losing a child has got to be unbearable. To all the others in the accident a super recovery physical as well as emotional. The Lord be with us all through this tragic time.

We remember Madey.... In our hearts she will always be with us , and all those whos lives she touched... thru her life! Here is a poem I hope will help touch each one who reads and accepts it......Bits and Pieces

Bits and pieces, bits and pieces. People. People important to you, People unimportant to you cross your life, touch it with love and move on. There are people who leave you and you breathe a sigh of relief and wonder why you ever came into contact with them. There are people who leave you, and you breathe a sigh of remorse and wonder why they had to go and leave such a gaping hole. Children leave parents, friends leave friends. Acquaintances move on. People change homes. People grow apart. Enemies hate and move on. Friends love and move on. You think of the many people who have moved in and out of your hazy memory. You look at those present and wonder. I believe in god's master plan in lives. He moves people in and out of each other's lives, and each leaves his mark on the other. You find you are made up of bits and pieces of all who have ever touched your life. You are more because of them, and would be less if they had not touched you. Pray that you accept the bits and pieces in humility and wonder, and never question and never regret's. Bit's and pieces, bits and pieces.
-Anonymous
May Gods peace and blessings fill your hearts in knowing that Madey has no more pain or sorrows, and is spending time with her Heavenly Father. May God Bless Dan, Julie and the entire Kleve Family and Friends at this time in their lives, as they reflect... on the Bit's and pieces... That have touched thier lives...
