Don't say never. I was at a recent meeting. Some other guy was there, too.

Actually, prior to that meeting, I had no idea that the district had a long term growth and development plan. I told them that they can't assume that everyone heard about it because it was decided on some years ago. They need to keep reminding people of it.

I'm interested in hearing a reply regarding the cited HJ article posted by The Big Easy. Should these funds already have been available? If so, what happened to them?

Instead of slamming the school here or bragging about the school I think what we need to do is go to the next school board meeting and let them hear what we have to say.the next meeting is on Monday 18th at 7 pm in Howard Lake at the board room.I think we need to show up and let our voices be heard.Or we could do an e-mail campaign there email addresses are here., but I think we need to show up at the meeting. do you watch the meetings on cable channel 10 there is never anybody there.

From reading the article above, it looks like middle school improvements were suppose to be included in the last bond that passed (conversion of the middle school and high school building in Howard Lake to a middle school only). Now they want more money???

From the Herald/Journal December 12,2005

What does the bond include?

The bond includes construction of a proposed new 500-student high school with bus garage and athletic fields, conversion of the middle school and high school building in Howard Lake to a middle school only, and additions to the Waverly and Winsted elementary schools.

The bond will be paid off in 25 years. The $26.5 million bond also includes all interest and deferred maintenance, health and safety, and ADA costs on all buildings for the next 10 years, expenses that will have to be accounted for, whether or not the bond passes.

Instead of building a new facility and remodeling for $26
million, Could we have just remodeled ALL our current facilities at a fraction of that $26 million?

Here is my 2 cents (or 9 Million) The middle school
now holds the 5th through 7th grades, it used to be a
k-12 school. The whole school is not needed. The north
end of the school is only 30 years old(but probably neglected), figure out how much space is needed to house the 5th - 7th grades plus a little expansion, remodel that portion and tear down the rest. And get 3+ quotes.
