HELP NEEDED: A Letterclub member to volunteer in the Concession stand at the Middle School on Saturday, March 14th from 5:30 – 9:00.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: Lakers will play Eden Valley-Watkins in the Sub-Section Championship game tonight, March 10th at 8:00. The bus will leave at 5:15.

SOFTBALL: Practice today will start at 4:00 in the Middle School.

WRESTING: There will be a meeting after school today in Mr. Granrud’s room. Singlets, warm-ups, and head gear will be turned in at this time. Wrestlers will also be voting on season ending awards. The wrestling banquet will be next Thursday, March 19, 2009 starting at 6:30 for highlight video and meal at 7:00. This year will be a potluck. Please see Mr. Granrud to find out what to bring.

BASEBALL: Baseball meeting for all players grades 9-12 who are playing this season on Thursday, March 12th at 2:45 p.m. in Mr. Gagnon’s room. Plan on 45 minutes, you will get practice apparel on that day. You must speak to Mr. Gagnon if you are unable to attend.

ULTIMATE: Practices will be held at the middle school gym (use west entrance). Sunday, March 15 and 22 from 3-4pm.

SPRING PLAY: Auditions will be held on Wednesday at 3:00 in the High School Auditorium.

SENIORS: Application forms for all the local scholarships are available. This includes all the Memorial Scholarships, Legion, Lions, Masonic Lodge, and the health care scholarships. Seniors can pick up the forms from Kathleen in the Media Center. Completed forms and all Letters of Recommendation are due by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 1st.

TEACHERS: Please excuse the following students for a State FFA Food Science CDE Friday, March 13th: Kayla Schanus, Doreen Lorentz, Christine Bobrowske, Kim Juncewski.

POM POMS will be sold at the Laker Girl’s game tonight at DC. $1 each- See Cheri Luhman

AFTER PROM ACTIVITIES

There will be an After Prom Party meeting on Monday, March 16th at 6:30 pm in the High School Commons. Parents please join us in planning the upcoming After Prom Party.

After Prom Pancake breakfast Sunday, March 22nd at the KC Hall in Waverly from 7:00 am to 12:00 noon.

After Prom Bingo will be held at the KC Hall in Waverly on Sunday, March 22nd starting at 6:30 pm.

Seniors! Wright Hennepin Scholarship Applications are in. Stop by Resource Center to pick up.

Seniors interested in an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood: Judy Lindman Memorial Scholarship Program Scholarship recipients will receive financial assistance to attend school full time while also gaining valuable work experience at a licensed child care facility. Application detail in resource center. Scholarship award is up to $6,000 per year toward tuition and books. Deadline is April 1.

T.V. Reality Show: Attention Seniors interested in Army National Guard Medic or Mechanic Career: The Minnesota National Guard is looking for 2 females (medics) and 2 males (mechanics) to go 3 years Active Duty and be on a T.V. Reality Show. You must have over 50 on ASVAB. Must pass a full physical. Must believe in service to country. Must pass interview for reality show. University of Wisconsin Platteville is offering opportunities for young women interested in careers in Science and Technology. (1) College of EMS EXPO, Thursday, April 2; (2) The Sky’s the Limit: Friday, – Sunday, April 24-26, will introduce young women to careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Seniors – The consulting firm of AES Engineers is committed to continuing its support of higher education by providing scholarships to deserving students.

To be eligible the student needs to answer one of the essay questions that they will find on their site at http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm

Their belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason they are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluating the essays that are submitted.

Amount of award: $500.00
Deadline for entry: October 6, 2009

Delta Theta Sigma Fraternity, University of Minnesota Scholarships: 3-$1000 and several Housing scholarships valued at $1960 given to eligible applicants. Both scholarships are available to all incoming male freshmen and transfer students entering the U of M-Twin Cities. Requirements for scholarship are in Resource Center. Deadline is March 27.

Minnesota Chapter of Farm House Fraternity, U of M -Twin Cities is offering (3) $1000 scholarships. Final Deadline is March 20. Information is in Resource Center.

2009 Minnesota Clean Air Choice Scholarship – 1st Place Essay: $1000, 2nd Place Essay: $500 Essay deadline is April 30. Information is in Resource Center.
