HLWW band instructor resigns

HOWARD LAKE, WAVERLY, WINSTED, MN – Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted School Superintendent Brad Sellner sent the following message to parents this week:

September 25, 2018

Dear HLWW Middle School/High School Parents and Guardians:

We understand that many of you have had questions as to the status of the Middle School and High School Band Department. Band Instructor Andrew Rosevold has been unexpectedly absent for the past several days. The School District has not communicated much about his absence, as there was very little information we could provide to you other than the fact that Mr. Rosevold was on a leave of absence.

Mr. Rosevold recently submitted his resignation that was accepted by the School Board at the September 24th School Board meeting and will take effect immediately. While this resignation leaves a hole in our music department, the School District has hired a substitute teacher, Nathan Mitchell, who is a licensed band/music instructor and is available to assume the duties of the vacant Middle School/High School Band Instructor for the remainder of the school year.

Mr. Mitchell comes to us with prior experience as a band instructor at Hill Murray and the Maple Lake School District. He has experience with the brass instruments and will be taking over the Middle and High School Jazz Bands, 5th grade general music, 6th grade band, and 8th grade band, as well as lessons.  Ms. Dailey will be continuing with the High School Concert Band, 7th grade band, and will now be taking the 5th grade band, as well as continuing lessons.

We are very excited to have Mr. Mitchell join our team of great teachers and hope everyone gives him a warm welcome to our schools!

Brad Sellner
