History of fire department presented in Winsted

WINSTED, MN – One of Winsted Fire Chief Brian Langenfeld’s first duties after recently taking on his new position was to prepare a presentation on the history of the department.
Langenfeld, along with Mike Laxen, the senior current member of the department with 35 years of service, and his father, Vince Laxen, who retired from the department with 21 years of service, presented facts and anecdotes about the history of the department and how things have changed over the years.
The program July 24 was sponsored by the McLeod County Historical Society (MCHS) as part of its 2016 theme, which will explore the history of firefighting in the county. See more in the Aug. 1 issue of Herald Journal. Click here to subscribe online or in print.
