PAYNESVILLE – Terell Grangroth scored twice, including the game-winner late in the third period, to push the Dragons past the Stars Friday, 2-1.
Grangroth scored with just 19 seconds left in the first period, on assists from Dylan Schutz and Brandt Pedersen, to put LDC up 1-0.
However, River Lakes’ Logan Stellmach scored a power play goal at 14:37 of the second period to tie the game.
In the third period, Grangroth scored his second goal of the game with 3:47 left in the contest, on an assist from Blake Johnson, to put the Dragons up 2-1.
LDC was then able to hold the Stars off the board for the rest of the contest.
River Lakes outshot LDC 28-27 for the game.
Darby Halonen stopped 27-of-28 shots to pick up the victory.
LDC is now 2-1 on the season. The team will travel to Bloomington Kennedy Tuesday, and host Hutchinson Saturday.
