GIRLS TRACK: Good start for Delano girls

BELLE PLAINE — The Delano girls shook the winter rust off at its opening event April 5 at the Belle Plaine Invitational.

The Tigers looked good in their debut.

Ellie Norling and Grace Jostock, both, won multiple events, and two Tigers swept the top two spots in the pole vault.

Norling won three events, and Jostock two.

The sweep of the pole vault came from Olivia Motley and Abby Monk. Motley won the event with a vault of 5 feet. Monk’s second-place vault went for 4 feet-10 inches.

Orono Quad

ORONO — The Delano girls snuck in a second run before Mother Nature pulled the white blanket of snow up and over the area tracks. The Tigers competed at the Orono Quadrangular, which actually included five teams.

The lady Tigers finished in the middle of the team pack, placing fifth with 41 points.

Owatonna won the meet with 84 points.

Two Delano girls captured wins.

Grace Jostock won the 3,200 meters with the time of 11:53.28, and Olivia Motley won high jump with a jump of 5 feet.
