Former Carver Co. man arrested for suspected ‘magic’ mushrooms

CARVER COUNTY, MN – Patrick Norman Rieck, 34, of Minneapolis (formerly of Chanhassen), and John Christian Zastrow, 33, also of Minneapolis, have been arrested and charged for felony level drug crimes, the Chaska Herald reported.
The arrests were made by the Southwest Metro Drug Task Force and Scott and Carver County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
Two large bags in the trunk of vehicle driven by Rieck, with Zastrow as a passenger. The bags allegedly contained 17 one-gallon size zip-loc baggies containing suspected hallucinogenic “magic” mushrooms. The substance weighed 3,732 grams or slightly over 8 pounds. The estimated street value of the suspected drugs is $46,000.
Both Rieck and Rastrow were arrested and charged in Scott County District Court for first-degree drug possession and sale of a controlled substance, and importing controlled substances across a state border into Minnesota, the Chaska Herald reported. All charges are felony crimes punishable up to 86 months in prison.
