Flying a helicopter while getting shot at

I read with interest the story in the Feb. 11 Herald Journal about the Vietnam veteran helicopter pilot, Don Bickman. Riding a helicopter for entertainment would be a ball. Helicopters can move in more dimensions than a regular airplane. They can go straight up and down, hover, and turn adbrutly right or left. Looking out the window would probably make passengers “feel” more like flying, than looking through a little porthole-style window on a regular airplane. However, being shot at in a helicopter during a battle must be 10 times as harrowing as being in an airplane or on the ground. I’m impressed that we have a hero in nearby Winsted. Thanks for serving our country, Don Bickman!

Don, I appreciate your efforts. Thank you, and God bless.
