Flag to honor veterans goes MIA in Winsted

WINSTED, MN – The day before Veterans Day, the POW-MIA flag at the Winsted Post Office on Main Street was reported stolen, according to the Winsted Police Department.

Tuesday night at about 9:30 p.m., an individual wearing a light grey hooded sweatshirt was seen lowering both the American and POW-MIA flags on the Winsted Post Office flag pole. The incident was reported immediately and the Winsted Police Department responded. The suspect fled on foot with the POW-MIA flag. The flag is estimated to cost approximately $50. The case remains open, and anyone with any information about the incident should contact the Winsted Police Deparment at (320) 485-2600.
