God’s Helping Hands will be hosting a benefit for 22-year-old Eric Reinert of Watertown at Hollywood Sports Complex Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18.
Reinert was in Hawaii learning about organic farming when he contracted eosinophilic meningitis, or rat lungworm disease, possibly from eating fruits and vegetables that weren’t properly washed. The disease causes severe pain, and possibly nerve and brain damage.
The two-day event will include three big sporting events both days, and a dance Saturday from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. featuring Chopper, World’s Nuttiest DJ.
To participate in the fast-pitch softball tournament, or the bean bag tournament, contact Chopper at (763) 274-8911 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
To participate in the co-ed volleyball tournament, contact Joe at (952) 955-2424.
Reinert’s story will be told this fall on the National Geographic Channel, on the series “Monsters Inside Me.”
