Whether you like the new logo or not, I think the voting process was done well. Allowing the students to vote, and giving them the option not to change it, was the right thing to do.
Why are so many people in this area afraid of change?
I think the new logo looks GREAT! Like technology and progress, logos need to change with the times. I feel the new logo will add a refreshing and or new sense of pride in the school. DC has talented and driven athletes, why not reflect that in a new logo that represents a characteristic that will be more than useful in their adults lives.
Charger = midieval war horse
That horse looks too nice…it needs a faceguard or something
I no longer have children in the DC school system but I always thought our current logo of being a Charger depicted “electricity” which could mean the electricity shown between the two communities, electricity of our students, opposing teams, etc. It was never brought to my attention in the past that the DC Charger was the medieval war horse known as a charger. I personally would prefer to keep the logo the same as it is.
DC Fan - I agree with you! Logos need to change and update with the times. As a DC Grad, the issue I’m having is that it’s not just updating a logo - it’s adopting a new mascot. The DC Chargers have always been associated with power, energy and electricity - not a horse.
I welcome an updated logo, but would have a hard time with a new mascot.
The new logo has the horse…which could therefore be used as a new mascot. That would be ok…better than a lightning bolt. However, some of the colors would need to change on the new logo. There is too much blue. I have a hard time reading the Charger name at the bottom because my eye wants to go to the bright red in the background. Perhaps some use of silver or black might be appropriate. I hear that the uniforms can no longer have red accents…why does the logo still have the red accent? Just wondering…
I think you had better think about these “extra” projects again before you support them. I can’t take a drive to check on all the activity that these projects provide for the DC community because I can afford gas for my car to go to work every day. There are lots of folks hurting out there and struggling to keep their homes and food on their tables. They don’t need the continued increase in taxes to support these projects. If you don’t believe it, then why did Dassel open up a food shelf? If everything is so honky dory, then there would be no need for that!!! Also, have you counted the number of foreclosures in this area lately? Why do you think people are losing their homes? Is it because they are lazy - I doubt it - they simply cannot afford the high cost of home ownership, the high cost of taxes and perhaps they have even lost their jobs. So, please be a little bit more sympathetic, and be satisfied with what you have and don’t look for more projects for the taxpapers to pay for!!!!
