UPDATE: DARWIN, MN – The Meeker County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a case of vandalism involving six broken windows on the gazebo surrounding the ball of twine in Darwin.
A property damage report was taken Feb. 20 at 7:36 p.m. from an anonymous caller, according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Department.
At first, the department suspected the windows may have been broken due to the weight from the snow on the roof or shifting of the building.
After examining the windows, the department found exactly where the windows had been struck, according to Sheriff Jeff Norlin.
The department is still determining whether it was a punch or a projectile that caused the glass windows to break.
Because the glass is between support posts that connect to the roof, there is no pressure on the glass at all, said Roger Werner, Twine Ball Museum director.
Replacing the windows will cost about $1,400, he said.
The case remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call (320) 693-5400.

kids need more to do more than not its younger kids causing the problems being 18 and living around this area it is pretty dull and they wounder why it happens
Boredom is not an excuse to cause damage or problems for other people. It’s that simple.
Who knows it was kids…maybe it was bored adults.
The area is plenty boring enough for all to share.
There are plenty things to do in this area. Perhaps use some energy to help shovel some Senior Citizen’s driveway or something of this sort. If it is so dull around, then find something positive/constructive to pass your time. I keep hearing that we live in a “Christian” area. Yeah, this was a real “Christian” thing to do!!
