Upcoming events at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum

Chanhassen, MN (Aug. 4)- The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, encompassing 1,047 acres of pristine gardens and natural areas,  offers summer fun for everyone – from children’s activities to cooking classes to band concerts.  Here’s a sampling of upcoming activities. “Treeology” Summer Exhibition. now through Oct. 12.  Take the 1.5 mile Art ‘n’ Trees Trail of 18 interactive art installations and, while you’re there, enjoy the Treemendous Trees Trail display of unusual and favorite Arboretum trees; other features include the Tree Discovery Zone, a fun outdoor learning laboratory, and Grown Home, a fanciful rustic abode with living willow furniture. Free with Arboretum admission.

“Prairie Natives” Weekend Family Fun: Saturdays & Sundays in August, noon to 4 p.m.. Learn all about blooming prairie plants and weave a sweet-grass braid.  Marion Andrus Learning Center. Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Free with gate admission ($7 adults; ages 15 and younger free).

Cooking Class with Marshall Paulsen of Birchwood Café, several courses with wine, $50/$60; Thursday, Aug. 7, 6:30-9 p.m.: call 952-443-1422 to register. Sponsored by Kowalski’s. Marion Andrus Learning Center, Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.

Bent Willow Chair Workshop, Saturday & Sunday, Aug. 9 & 10, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Snyder Auditorium, Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.  Learn the craft of willow bending and create a beautiful fan-backed bent-willow chair to take home.  $290/$315.  Call 952-443-1422 to register.
