The school transportation conundrum


FOR SUBSCRIBERS – Of all the difficult decisions school district leaders face as they plan to reopen schools for 2020-21, the hardest one might be the most basic: how to get students to the buildings.

It’s not a question districts and schools can take for granted. Federal law requires transportation for students with disabilities and who are homeless. District-provided transportation is a necessity for many of the estimated 760,000 students statewide who ride a bus to-and-from school every day.
