DASSEL-COKATO, MN – Dassel-Cokato senior Taylor Mankenberg is competing in the Spirit 92.9 Opening Act, the Christian music station’s version of American Idol. Mankenberg sang for the top four slot Friday, May 1 at 7 p.m. at the Westwood Church in St. Cloud where she placed the top four. Prior to Friday’s show, she competed four the top eight out of 48 contestants.
According to the station, starting Tuesday, May 5 and following for a two week period, listeners will be able to visit www.spirit929.com to hear the demos and vote for their favorite Opening Act contestant. Each Friday, starting May 8, the contestant receiving the lowest number of votes will be eliminated. Voting totals will be reset each week. The person who wins the contest will be the opening act for the sold out performance of Phillips, Craig, and Dean in St. Cloud.
