UPDATE: DC is closing at 10 a.m. today.
DC Supt. Jeff Powers was interviewed by reporter Paul Blume in a FOX 9 broadcast tonight about school closings and late starts. DC does not have a late start or closing scheduled as of Sunday night, according to its official phone recording for that subject.

How’s he feeling about that now?
I did not see the story that he was quoted in. Is there a link to the story available online?
I think the decision about closing school yesterday was made after all the buses were late getting to the school. There were some that went in the ditch…not the safest trip for our children…one was not available still two hours later when they were transporting them back home. I almost kept my children at home…If I had left home before them I would have kept them home…but I knew if they did not come in it would be held against them despite what they say.
I just wish that they would not be so concerned about the almighty dollar and the state aid when they make these decisions. The first and foremost should be “How safe is this trip going to be for the buses and the cars coming to the school?” Not “Are we going to get aid for this day of attendance?” How much is a childs life worth? To me it is priceless!!!
I would have thought that they would have been more careful after the accident on Thursday morning involving three teachers on their way to school.
Now this morning with the fog two adjoining districts are starting school 2 hours late…not DC…instead we have a bus and truck crash that sent 8 children to the hospital with injuries.
Let’s start erroring on the side of safety please!
