COKATO, MN – Wright County Sergeant Scott Halonen urges Cokato residents to lock their car doors and to not leave valuables inside of them after more than two dozen thefts in Cokato have been reported recently. Primarily, the thefts are occurring in residential areas. Residents are asked to call 911 with any suspicious activity, particularly at night. He also advises to call if juveniles are seen out at night after curfew. Parents should also be on the lookout for unfamiliar items showing up in their home, such as CD or electronics, he noted. With summer coming and the warmer weather upon us, this allows for more time to commit a crime, he commented.
