The Wright County Conference is considering signing on to WebcastAmerica which would allow each school district in the conference to videotape home sporting events. This would be no cost to the district. Webcast America would even pay students to video tape the games. Apparantly Annandale and Watertown are trying it out. With advertising and after market video sales, the district might even make a profit off of it. The district could choose to opt out for home games, but away games would still be broadcast. Just wondering if this is something the DC community would want or if they wouldn’t want their kids broadcast on the web?

It makes me nervous to think that my children could possibly be broadcast across the internet - what is there to stop potential predators from using this information to track children? This webcasting would show what schools kids are from and their names - I don’t think we can be too vigilant in protecting our children.
I think that this is a great idea. Students can watch their achievements online and even give relatives from out of town the opportunity to see them play. With our weekly DCTV broadcast at school (I’m a senior at DC) most of the home events are already being filmed. So it is just one more step being added on for us in the studio to upload these videos after we are finished with them.
It can be a lot of fun to film these events. People enjoy seeing their kids on film, and us kids enjoy it too. I say go for it! We need to not be so careful when it comes to safety of the kids.
