Speaker shows high school students consequences to bad choices

lady2DASSEL-COKATO, MN - Sarah Panzau is living proof of what happens when people make bad decisions such as drinking and driving. Panzau spoke to the high school students in the Performing Arts Center Friday as she does nine months out of the year all around the country, becuase she doesn’t want others making the same mistake she did when she was 21.

August 23, 2003, Panzau, of St. Louis, MO, decided to go out and have a good time, like she so often did. Though she admitted it wasn’t the first time she chose to drink and drive, this however, was the day her luck ran out.

After students watched a video of Panzau as an active volleyball player, they also seen bloody pictures from the deadly car crash that ripped her arm off and separated her rib cage from her spinal column among other life-threatening injuries. Panzau them came down from the back of the PAC showing the evidence of that nearly life-ending crash.

She told how something like this, meaning the crash and her losing her arm and being labled “disabled” was never supposed to happen to her . . . like it’s never supposed to happen to anybody. Before that day, she, like most young people, felt she was invisible.
