MEEKER COUNTY, MN – The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to an assault with a gun at a residence in the 34300 block of 617th Avenue, Eden Valley, at 12:20 p.m. Oct. 24.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, the victim said his adult son took a gun away from him, then threw him to the ground. The victim said his son then put the gun to his neck and pulled the trigger. The gun jammed and did not fire, according to the press release.
When deputies arrived at the scene, the son was identified as Timothy Scholtes, 55, of Eden Valley. Scholtes fled the scene prior to the arrival of deputies and was later arrested in Eden Valley, without incident, for the assault. He is being held in the Meeker County Jail pending a court appearance.
The victim received minor injuries during the altercation that did not require medical attention, the sheriff’s office noted.
