COKATO, MN – It will be 20 years since a tornado swept through Cokato, destroying everything in its path. The tornado struck the town of Cokato at about 11 p.m. June 16, 1992. The Enterprise Dispatch would like you to share your stories about the tornado by clicking the comment button below.
The Cokato Museum is also looking for photos of the tornado and the aftermath for its collection. The photos can be scanned and saved in digital form at the museum.
At our farm in Dassel we were growing Christmas trees. After the Tornado/high winds went through, all of the trees were at an angle towards Cokato. We had to get special stakes and stake every tree back up so they would grow straight.
