MEEKER COUNTY, MN – Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a driving complaint Dec. 25 at 7:31 p.m. on a vehicle that was eastbound from Litchfield on US Highway 12, according to a release from Meeker County Sheriff Brian Cruze. The initial complaint was the driver was driving off onto the shoulder and speeding. A deputy located the vehicle and, after receiving a speed reading in excess of 90 miles per hour, attempted to stop the vehicle. The deputy also observed the driver driving erratically in and out of traffic. The driver turned off of US Highway 12 in Darwin Township, and through a resident’s yard before driving through a field. The driver then went into the ditch along US Highway 12, where the vehicle crashed. The driver was uncooperative but taken into custody without further incident, according to the release. The driver, Timothy J. Otis, 57, of Eagan, was arrested for fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and suspicion of DUI. The pursuit lasted approximately five minutes and no one was injured during the pursuit. Deputies also recovered a small amount of marijuana.
