Memories of Mary Ackerman as a librarian

More than two decades of service will end in a week’s time as Cokato Librarian Mary Ackerman ends her service Aug. 31. In fact, the Cokato Council declared Sunday, Aug. 31 to be “Mary Ackerman Day” in her honor earlier this week.

She is married to longtime barber Mike Ackerman, who also recently retired from his job as well.

Do you have any memories of her at the library?

I had the pleasure of working with Mary for a couple years. She has always put the library and her patrons first; looking out for their interests, and making sure that the library was a warm and friendly place to be. Whom ever GRRL chooses to replace her will have some pretty big shoes to step into. Wishing her well in retirement.
