DASSEL-COKATO, MN - The 2008-09 MCA II test results released by the Minnesota Department of Education shows Dassel-Cokato is well above the state average in both math and reading.
In math, DC reached 74 percent proficiency, and in reading, 81 percent profficiency. The state average was 64 percent in math and 72 percent in reading.
DC has also seen a slight increase from the 2007-08 test results where the district tested 71 percent proficient in math and 79 percent in reading. A larger increase can be seen compared to 2006-07 where the district was 57.99 percent proficient in math and 72 percent in reading.
“We continue to increase the spread between Dassel-Cokato and the state average scores,” said Supt. Jeff Powers.
“Overall, we held our own this year. As a district we did not make large gains over the last year, but we did continue to make progress,” he added.
Out of the 341 school districts in the state, there were only 31 districts with higher math scores than DC and 36 in reading, according to Powers.
Powers also reported that the middle school special education sub group made its adequate yearly progress target and therefore has been removed from the AYP corrective action list.
