‘Listening’ session scheduled for arts funding

MARSHALL, MN –

The Southwest Minnesota Arts & Humanities Council (SMAHC) is holding a “Listening Session” August 18, 2009 from 4-6:00 p.m. at Jazz n’ Java, 913 Hwy 71 NE in Willmar, hosted by The Barn Theatre. SMAHC is trying to gather as much input as possible from people throughout our region to help guide us in designing programs for the new Arts & Cultural Heritage Funds that we will be receiving.

SMAHC wants to hear ideas on how the new State Arts & Culture Funds should be invested. Specifically, what are the most important arts needs and opportunities in your region and what should be accomplished with the new sales tax funds designated for the arts?

SMAHC Executive Director Greta Murray will talk about the new Legacy Amendment funds, how the new arts funds must be spent, and who will have access to the arts funds.

The public is invited to attend. All ideas and comments are welcome. If you are not able to attend, you may submit your ideas and suggestions by email to smahcinfo@iw.net
