Koivisto wins district spelling bee

spellingwebTwenty-four middle school students competed in the district spelling bee Thursday, with round 16 determining the champion of the event, sixth grader Ned Koivisto. Koivisto was up against fifth grader Chris Busche in Round 16 and correctly spelled the word “megalopolis” moving him on to the champion round, where he correctly spelled the word pistachio. Both Koivisto and Busche qualify for the regional spelling bee Monday, March 2 at St. John’s University in Collegeville. Middle School Principal Gary Johnson awards Busche and Koivisto with their medals.
