Dassel’s 2009 Cutie Pie Pageant, “It’s Reigning Men,” will take place Saturday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. at the Dassel Elementary School auditorium. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.; seating is limited.Admission is $5. This first, fun-filled event highlights seven local men, dressing as women, competing for the honor of the 2009 Dassel Cutie Pie. Also featured will be nine local artists who are donating and decorating chairs that will be used in the coronation ceremonies and auctioned off following the pageant in the “Chair-ity Auction.”
Chairs will be on display at 6:15, prior to the pageant, in the auditorium; those in attendance can get a close-up look at the beautiful artwork on these one-of-a-kind, collectible chairs.
Pageant candidates, artists, and many others participating in the pageant and working behind the scenes are volunteering time and talent to bring entertainment to the community and raise money for historic preservation and the arts in the Dassel area.
Coffee and apple pie squares will be served following the auction.
Proceeds will go to the Dassel Area Historical Society, with a portion going to Southwest Minnesota Arts and Humanities Council.
