At Tuesday morning’s Delano Area Chamber of Commerce Highway 12 Task Force meeting, Delano City Administrator Phil Kern told those present that the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) plans to open Highway 12 in Delano Tuesday, Oct. 6 to through traffic.
Kern said, right now, the project completion depends on how quick crews can install the stoplight at the intersection of Highway 12 and Bridge Avenue. The last layer of bituminous also needs to be laid yet, along with the striping of the roadway, which will take place Friday and Monday. Kern said some of the streetlights will not yet be up Oct. 6, but said the roadway will be completed and opened to traffic.
A “When the West Was Done” celebration is set to take place Saturday, Oct. 10 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. featuring live music by Silverado. This is a rain or shine event, with a ribbon cutting set for 6 p.m. near the lot of the Delano American Legion, and the music starts at 7 p.m. Food and beverages will be available from the Delano American Legion, Dave’s Town Club, Juke Box, and Three Crows. A “Gateway Celebration” 5K run is also set to take place in conjunction with the event, with the line-up starting at 5 p.m. and the run beginning at 5:15 p.m. It starts and ends at the intersection of Bridge Avenue and River Street.
