Handbell ensemble hosts handchime event Nov. 8

WRIGHT COUNTY, MN – The wRight Ringers Community Handbell Ensemble hosted its eighth annual “Hat’s Off to Handchimes” event at Discovery School in Buffalo Nov. 8.
Sixty-eight students from elementary schools in Wright County took part.
Students in attendance were from Humphrey Elementary School in Waverly, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Middle School, Rockford, Monticello’s Pinewood and Little Mountain, and five elementary schools from the Buffalo School District (Discovery, Hanover, Northwinds, Parkside, and Tatanka).


Students spent the day learning to ring chimes with a special guest clinician, Paul Weller.
Weller is a music teacher from the Anoka School District, and is an accomplished bell ringer, having conducted handbell and handchime workshops with many students in the five-state area.
In addition, Timothy Berry taught African drumming. He has played hand drums since age 12, has presented many school workshops, and has performed nationally as an instrumentalist, singer, and actor.
This fun-filled day concluded with a concert that was open to the public. The successful event was funded by the Central Minnesota Arts Board.
