Hail and strong winds reported near Kingston Saturday

hailKINGSTON, MN – Numerous funnel clouds were sighted during Saturday afternoon’s storm system that went through Meeker, Stearns, and Wright counties, however, there were no reports of touch downs in the areas of Kingston and Watertown like previously thought to be, according to Mike Geriesinger, meteorologist with the National Weather Service out of Chanhassen. As of Tuesday, there were no reports of tornadoes Saturday, only strong winds and large hail, Geriesinger said.

Kris Bye, 18, the son of Lynette and Jeff Bye, shot this photo of nearly baseball-size hail that came through with the system that did end up doing some damage. The Byes live four miles east of Kingston. Jeff also saw a “finger cloud” that came down quick, but went right back up, he said.
