DASSEL-COKATO, MN – This year’s fall musical production of “Little Women,” received high marks with four actors given honors by the SpotLight Theatre Musical Program, an initiative of the Hennepin Theatre Trust program.
Actor Jon Thorson received Honorable Mention for a Supporting Role as Professor Bhaer as did Carrie Duncan as Beth March. Shantell Clay won Honorable Mention in a Leading role as Marmee March. The top award went to Kathryn Mankenberg who won Outstanding Performer in a Leading Role for her performance of Jo March.
The four will be a part of separate performances during the SpotLight award ceremony in June. Mankenberg will be involved in a group performance with other Outstanding Performers.
“I am really pleased with how the kids did,” said director Dave Metcalf. “This show, in my memory, is one of the best total packages we’ve put out. I really thought we came together well, and this is a credit to the kids involved. They were so willing and so eager.”
