MEEKER COUNTY, MN – A child playing with matches appeared to be the cause of a fire in rural Kingston Township Oct. 4, according to a press release from the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office was dispatched to a residence in the 71500 block of 330th Street shortly after 3 p.m., along with the Kimball Fire Department and Kimball Rescue. The homeowner and mother of the child, Lori Pedersen, 34, received burns to her wrist in attempt to extinguish the fire. Pedersen was treated for her injuries on scene by Kimball Rescue.
According to the sheriff’s office, there was an estimated $1000 of damage at the residence and no other injuries.
