DASSEL-COKATO, MN — To date, nearly 50 blog comments — fueled by debate over the decision to run a regular bus schedule in the fog Friday, in light of a bus accident — has caught the attention of WCCO, which made a second report on its web site about the crash.
“Saturday morning, several parents blogged on the Enterprise-Dispatch web site about the school district’s decision to have school on time despite fog in the area,” WCCO reporter John Lauritsen wrote.
“Some said the decision put students’ lives at risk. Nancy Piepenburg has a daughter in the school district. She said she was furious that school wasn’t at least two hours late when other districts in the area were starting late,” Lauritsen reported.
Piepenburg told WCCO that she and others were also upset that Alexis Iverson’s’ medical condition was not made clear by school officials, since initial reports were given that students had minor injuries, when Iverson sustained neck injuries.

Good at least all the comments caught someone’s attention! If you have a voice let it be heard at the next school board meeting. We need to keep our children safe.
A blog about a blog. Now that’s kind of funny.
I am glad it is not my decision to close school or call it late. It would not be an easy decision. Parents will gripe no matter what decision they make. They have a hard decision to make and it is unfortunate this happened but what good is pointing fingers! We have all made poor decisions and I am sure there are regrets to the decision that was made that day but I don’t think everyone screaming about it is right either. Fog can be horrible in some places and great in others. Now the school will be extra cautious and call school late or off more often and then parents will complain they had to make other arrangements for their kids when the roads or conditions were fine.
