DASSEL, COKATO, MN – Soil Hughes, a concert guitarist and ensemble performer, has been teaching seventh graders at DC Middle School the history of rock and roll and pop culture this week.
Each day, students get to spend an hour singing, playing instruments, and having fun learning about the various decades of music from the 1950s to the 1980s.
A performance with the students will take place Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Dassel History Center. The public is encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served. There is no admission charge.
This is a collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution and the Minnesota Humanities Council in conjunction with the exhibit “New Harmonies: Exploring American Roots Music” now on display at the history center through Saturday, Nov. 5.
