Dassel Fire responds to garage fire

DASSEL, MN – The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office dispatched Dassel Fire and Rescue for a garage on fire at 7225 309th Street, Dassel  last night (Friday Jan. 29) at approximately 12:04 a.m.

The Sheriff’s deputies were the first to arrive on scene and found Paul Hendrickson, resident, inside the garage trying to extinguish the fire, according to the report. Hendrickson verified that he was the only one currently at the residence and that the fire was started due to an ashtray that had recently been emptied into the trashcan located in the garage.

Dassel Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene and verified that the fire appeared to have been started in the trashcan and that the fire was extinguished prior to departure. There were no vehicles in the garage at the time of the fire. Damage is estimated between $5,000 to $10,000.
