Dassel Elementary School continued a successful “Mystery Reader” program this month from last year’s “February is I Love to Read Month.” Above are fourth graders from Mechele Pitchford’s class, who listened to the story “Homer Price” and the rampaging doughnut machine Wednesday.
Volunteers from the community took turns reading stories aloud to students.
Superintendent Jeff Powers led off reading to the fourth grade last Monday. On Tuesday, readers were Kelly Babekuhl, Julie Renkes and Drew Scherber.
Wednesday featured Lois Carlson, Rob Nudell, Eric Johnson and Roz Kohls. Thursday featured Kristen Miller, Jim Loe, Cate Kraemer and Michelle Schnitzler.
Books read to the students included “My Friend Rabbit,” “Kitten’s First Full Moon,” “Owen,” “Julius: The Baby of the World,” “The Useful Moose,” “Heckedy Peg,” “King Bidgood’s in the Bathtub,” “My Rotten Redheaded Older Brother,” “Homer Price,” and “First Snow in the Woods.”
Employees from Crop Production Services of Dassel will be mystery readers this week, according to Mary Neu, the school’s volunteer coordinator.
